Computer Science Department
The Computer Science Department offers the student an opportunity to broadly discover a number of technologies. Through the numerous electives offered, students can also explore specific content areas in greater depth.
A freshman has two choices when starting his computer science training at Jesuit. He can choose Technology Applications or Introduction to Computer Programming. Technology Applications is a semester-long survey course that covers a variety of topics including: Microsoft Office, digital photography and video, web development, and programming. For the student who feels he has sufficiently covered the areas in our survey course, we offer Introduction to Computer Programming. Introduction to Computer Programming is a semester-long course where students learn the fundamentals of object-oriented design using Java.
After completing the first computer science requirement, the Jesuit student must select one additional elective. The course offerings are: Multimedia, Graphics, Web Design, AP Computer Science, and Video Game Programming. All of these courses—with the exception of AP Computer Science, which is a full-year class—are one semester long.
