Humility through Experience: The 2016 Quito, Ecuador Service/Immersion Trip
Photo by Matt DuRoss '05Sunday morning: A young student wakes up at 6 am in a country on the opposite continent of his home. Along with the fourteen other young men, he travels on public transportation crowded with local citizens of all ages. Once they get off the bus, they began the long walk up an incline a couple hundred […]

Peru: A Humbling Experience
610_8113In a small town in southern Peru, a young Peruvian boy tugs on the shirt of a rising Jesuit Dallas senior, his eyes imploring the soon-to-be graduate to stay a few more minutes. The seemingly incredible divide between the two dissolves through a mutual desire to be with each other. As a part of the many […]

Jesuit Rangers Football 2016-2017 Season Preview
28425A0016“This team has worked extremely hard the last few months, and we are very excited about the challenges ahead.  We need to keep developing our depth over the next few months. I feel our team chemistry and our leadership has been good.  Every season you have to overcome adversity and know how to handle it.  […]

And so it Begins…
Fr.Retreat - 41From the bright blue sheen of new freshman name tags to the confident clomping of senior cowboy boots, the halls of Jesuit returned to their usual sights and sounds last week. For the Freshman class of 2020, last Friday marked the beginning of the Jesuit experience, while Juniors marked their “halfway point,” and Seniors entered […]

Jesuit Football Scrimmages Against Wylie
1st6Weeks - 34Sheets of rain pour from the sky, slamming into the thick pads and cotton jerseys. Lightning strikes through the thin air as large shapes sprint through the mud and grass. A small projectile zips towards someone in a blue and gold jersey. He catches it, the force throwing him back into a group of defenders. […]

“Commit!” to Serving Your Community!
commitAfter a summer break that seemed too short, the once-lonely halls of Jesuit filled up once again with the nervous faces of incoming freshman and the smiling faces of returning students as they caught up with old friends. Many of the students in all grades started off the year right by donating to the “Commit! […]

Student Council Represents Jesuit at Meyerson Memorial Event
Student Council MeyersonDowntown Dallas was unusually quiet for a Tuesday morning in July.  The absence of honking, yelling, and cars altogether on the streets indicated an unorthodox event was taking place nearby. At the entrance to the Meyerson Symphony Center, hushed voices, subdued sobs, and the faint echo of Taps cast a somber aurora over the usually lively […]

In surprise to many, Mattacchione Departs from Jesuit Dallas
vs.Skyline - 2May at Jesuit is often characterized by a joyous onslaught of Convocation ceremonies, awards, and honors given to those extraordinary in their efforts over the past year. On May 5th, however, the Jesuit Rugby team’s banquet came with a shock: the announcement of long-standing Coach Anthony Mattacchione’s departure from the team, and more importantly Jesuit. […]

5 Ways to Decide Your Major in College
College NightWhenever I approach one of my parents’ friends, I brace myself for an interrogation. They always ask one of two things: where do you want to go to school, or what will your major be? To me, the latter of the two is more pressing because the first question is probably a bit easier for […]
