Ranger Swim Caps Season with Regional and State Appearance
Victories and positive records all sound good, but at the end of the season, only one thing really matters: championships. The anxious swimmers sit in the cold locker room waiting to begin warm-ups for regionals, the biggest meet of the year. They head out of the locker room, and onto the pool deck, where they […]

    Wrestling Wraps Up at Regionals
Dozens of shivering, bare skinned bodies throng the scales, organized in lines by weight, from 106 to 285 pounds. Palpable tension covers the room like a blanket, as potential opponents size each other up with fleeting glances over the low murmur of the room. In two hours, these high school athletes will compete in a […]

The Playoff Struggles of the Dallas Stars
This article is part of an ongoing series titled “The Plight of Dallas Sports Teams Since 2000,” in which I take a look at each of the four major Dallas sports teams and reflect on their playoff struggles, ultimately investigating the causes of their woes. Since their move from Minnesota in 1993, the Stars have […]

    Back to Work
The start of the new year always calls for new service opportunities. This January, students partook in various volunteer opportunities, and I asked Mr. Riemer, head of the Service Department, some questions about these events. 1.) What volunteer activities took place in January? “We have numerous regular opportunities that we resumed after returning from the […]

    Rangers Advance With Bi-District Win
Returning to the site of last year’s bi-district round, the Rangers looked to avenge the heartbreaking first-round exit of last season. Jesuit (21-10) took on an athletic Rowlett (21-7) team that, while placing third in District 10-6A, finished behind the 3rd and 9th-ranked teams in the area, and ended the season ranked 15th in team offense. Led […]

    Jesuit Baseball Season Preview 2017
Last year, the Jesuit Rangers baseball team completed one of the most historic seasons in Jesuit baseball history. They went the distance and took home the State title, the first UIL 6A baseball state championship win for the Rangers and only the second Jesuit state championship since the Rangers took home a soccer state championship […]

Brother, Why Must I Park Far?
For years, Jesuit students who fail to get a junior lot parking pass have been pushed to the outskirts of the school and forced to make the perilous walks from Willow to school, regardless of weather. These students struggle through the rain and cold to make a slightly longer walk than the rest of the students […]

Rangers Look Towards Playoffs After Strong Finish To Season
With four games left in the regular season, Jesuit basketball found itself locked in a four-way tie for second place in District 9-6A. A strong finish would position the Rangers for a high playoff seed, while losing even two could lead to a complicated tiebreaker situation that could leave them on the outside looking in. […]

Ranger Wrestlers Advance to Regional Tournament
This weekend is the weekend every school has been waiting for all year. This is the tournament towards which every wrestler works. The UIL District 7 Tournament, hosted by Berkner High School, put the best wrestlers from around the district in the spotlight to compete for a spot in the top 4 of the district who […]

    A Day of Reflection
Students may initially view the Ignatian Days organized by faculty as just another day off of school, but within the moodle page lies an imperative tool for reflection over the issues of drugs and alcohol. While the subject matter may be an uncomfortable issue to many, Ignatian principles of discernment require these aspects of our […]
