3RD ANNUAL SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE

This August the Department of Community Service and Social Justice with host the third annual school supply drive for local low income elementary schools. Jesuit students volunteer throughout the year at each of the campuses that will be receiving donations and each campus is a valuable partner in the Jesuit student social justice formation experience. Because of your generous support,p and participation, children in our community will have access to the critical resources needed for increasing their literacy and comprehension levels. Education is the gateway to opportunity. Partner with us to help open the doors a little wider for children in our community!

Supplies will be donated to the following elementary schools in the W.T. White and Thomas Jefferson neighborhoods:

  • David G Burnet Elementary
  • Jerry R Junkins Elementary
  • Joe May Elementary

 

  • Nathan Adams Elementary
  • Obadiah Knight Elementary

 

Requested donations are divided by class level. Click the link below to find out what your class level has been assigned to bring.

FAQs

  • Is participating in the drive required?
    No, participation is not required. However, it is our hope that through the generosity of our community, parents and students, and the donation of these much needed supplies we are able to make a lasting impact on the lives of elementary students in the DISD. Our goal is as close to 100% participation from all class levels as possible!
  • Do we need to bring everything listed in our son’s class level section?
    No, not at all. Items on the lists vary in price from $1.99 to $30.00. Please try and choose a variety of items from the list since they represent varied needs across multiple campuses.
  • When are the donated items due?
    Our goal is to gather the majority of the items on Tuesday, August 22, during Vos Parate. We will accept donations until Friday, Sept. 1.
  • Where should my son drop off his donation?
    Donations will be collected outside class level meetings at Vos Parate, at the start of Freshmen Orientation, or in homeroom once classes have started. After Vos Parate, donations may be dropped off at designated locations throughout the School. Just look for the donation bins in the front entry, outside community service offices, and in the Hall of Honors.
  • What do you do with the extra donations?
    Often times we do receive more donations of a specific item than in need by the requesting campus. In these cases we return the extra items in exchange for other items from the wish list which may not have been donated in sufficient quantities.
